Traditional Chinese
Medicine, Curative and
Preventive
Traditional Chinese medicine
includes Acupuncture,
Moxibustion, Herbalogy,
Acupressure, Qigong, and
Tuina therapy. With over
5000 years old history, the
primary purpose of Chinese
medicine in ancient China
was to prevent disease.
Chinese medicine doctors
were retained to keep
families healthy and were
held personally accountable.
In some cases, positive
results are realized in as
little as one visit. If
followed up with proper
preventive care, the cure is
usually permanent.

Many
people are familiar
with acupuncture and
many have been
benefited from
acupuncture
treatments. Robert¨ªs
back pain from
muscle¨ªs injuries
disappeared in just
two treatments.
David had sciatica
and such severe hip
and leg pain that he
was unable to walk.
Acupuncture
completely and
permanently relieved
his pain in five
treatments. Monthly
treatments with
acupuncture and
Chinese herbs
eliminated Linda¨ªs
hot flashes, mood
swings and other
symptoms of
menopause in two
months. Barbara, who
had tried to
conceive for years,
became pregnant
after undergoing
acupuncture and
Chinese herbal
treatment. Judy, who
suffered severe
headache and
depression after car
accident, was
totally relieved in
three months. Annie
stopped her 30 years
smoking with only
one treatment. |

Are these
too good to believe? These true
stories may seem incredible to those
unfamiliar with acupuncture, but
5,000 years of use attest to its
healing powers. The effects of
acupuncture have also been well
demonstrated by researchers.
Acupuncture points have been shown
to have lower electrical resistance
and thus greater conductivity than
surrounding tissue. All acupuncture
points correspond to know neural
structures. Acupuncture measurably
increases the body¨ªs own production
of natural painkillers, such as
beta-endorphins and enkephalins.
Acupuncture also increases blood
flow to the area of the brain that
processes pain and other sensory
stimuli, and subtly alters blood
chemistry, glucose levels and immune
markers. Acupuncture stimulates
serotonin, GABA, and acetylcholine
which act as neurotransmitters which
mediate pain response.
Understanding acupuncture theory
with the law of five elements, the
philosophy of Yin and yang, pulse
diagnosis, and examination of the
tongue is quite complicated and
requires years of studies. Quite
simply, it might be explained that
acupuncture is based on the concept
of qi (pronounced chee), the life
energy that flows through us all. Qi
flows through energy channels in the
body called meridians and. Along
these meridians are over 800
specific sites near skin called
acupuncture points that connect with
deeper organs and areas of the body.
When qi is flowing freely, we are
healthy. When it is blocked by
stress, fatigue, poor diet and other
disturbance, the result is
discomfort or disease.
Acupuncture dredges and activates
meridians and collaterals, regulates
deficiency and excess, equilibrates
the Yin and yang of the human body,
and therefore restores that flow of
qi and returns balance by using
needles to stimulate the points at
which this energy flow is blocked.
The improved energy and biochemical
balance produced by acupuncture
stimulates the body¨ªs nature healing
abilities, reducing inflammation,
and promoting physical emotional
well-being. The acupuncture needles
are hair-thin, sterilized and
disposable. You can hardly feel the
insertion of the needles and , if
you do, it is more of a tingling or
mild aching sensation. After the
needles have been inserted, they are
usually connected with specific
machine, and then you relax for 20
to 40 minutes. Most patients find an
acupuncture treatment session
profoundly peaceful and relaxing.
Some conditions clear up with one or
two treatment, but chronic
conditions may require multiple
sessions.
One thing no one can dispute is that
acupuncture is safe. It is used most
often for common pain conditions,
such as headaches, dysmenorrhea,
arthritis and joint and muscles
aches. Acupuncture helps ease pain
and controls side effects caused by
cancer chemotherapy more than
conventional therapies in some
cases. It is also useful in the
treatment of systemic problems such
as allergies, depression, fatigue,
digestive and sexual problems. In
1979, the World Health Organization
announced that acupuncture is
suitable for treating many diseases
and usually have good results in
disorders such as arthritis,
migraine headaches, frozen shoulder,
tennis elbow, sciatica,
neck-shoulder-back pain, asthma,
allergy, digestive disorders,
infertility, impotence, menstrual
disorders, PMS, depression and
stress, insomnia, skin problems,
chronic fatigue, weight control,
anti-aging, stroke recovery,
addictions to alcohol and
cigarettes.
Acupuncture is not only safe, but
unexpected side benefits sometimes
occur. Take the case of Jack, who
saw us for back pain. During his
course of treatment, he lost 20
pounds for which he had tried many
ways did not work. Another patients,
Su, was treated for severe arthritic
hip pain. During her evaluation, Su
confided that she was suffering from
urinary incontinence - out of
embarrassment she had never shared
this with anyone else - it was also
significantly helped by acupuncture.
If you are suffering with any of
conditions of symptoms discussed in
this article, or interesting in
Chinese Medicine involving
acupuncture and herbal formulas, you
can call us at (416) 227-1686. We
provide a safe, unique and relaxing
acupuncture method. More and more
extended health insurance reimburse
for the treatment. |
